Spicy Shrimp Tacos & Avocado Crema

Course: Main Course

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Shrimp peeled, deveined
  • 1 head of Purple cabbage for slaw
  • Corn or flour tortillas
  • Lime wedges topping

Shrimp Batter Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Yellow cornmeal
  • ½ cup Yellow flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Tajin to taste
  • Garlic granules to taste
  • Hungarian paprika to taste
  • Red pepper flakes to taste
  • Dried oregano to taste
  • Chili powder to taste

Avocado Crema Ingredients:

  • 1 Avocado
  • ½ cup Plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 Jalapeño removed seeds
  • ½ cup Cilantro
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 2 Limes juiced
  • 3 tbsp Avocado oil
  • ½ tbsp Salt
  • 3 tbsp Water

Instructions

  • Prep the shrimp
  • Mix the shrimp marinade ingredients together on a large plate.
  • Add the prepped shrimp to the dry batter, mix with clean hands until all shrimp are fully coated in the spicy batter.
  • Cook marinated shrimp in a cast iron skillet for 4-6 minutes on each side until golden brown

Avocado Crema Instructions:

  • Puree all of the ingredients in a food processor. Store in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
