Cheeseburger Lettuce Wraps + Mini Sliders

Ingredients

For the cheeseburger sliders:

  • ½ Red onion halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 ½ Cups Shredded medium cheddar cheese
  • 3 Tsp. Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Lb. Lean ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp. Yellow mustard
  • 2 Tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ Tsp. Garlic powder
  • ½ Tsp. Onion Powder
  • ½ Tsp. Salt
  • ¼ Tsp. Freshly Ground black pepper
  • Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 6 Slices American cheese
  • ¼ Cup Sliced dill pickles
  • 1 Tbsp. Melted butter
  • 2 Tsp. Sesame seeds
  • Romaine Lettuce Leaves for wraps (optional)

For the burger sauce:

  • ½ Cup Mayonnaise
  • ¼ Cup Ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. Sweet pickle relish
  • 1 Tbsp. Yellow mustard
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

For the Mini Burger Sliders:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-high. Add about 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil and 1 pound ground beef to the pan.
  • Break the beef up with a wooden spoon into small pieces, until cooked browned, for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the following ingredients into the meat as it’s cooking: organic yellow mustard, worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, onion powder, and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Stir to combine all ingredients, and cook for about 2 minutes. Remove the skillet from the heat.
  • In a separate medium cast iron skillet, heat extra virgin olive oil on high heat.
  • Add the thinly sliced red onions to the skillet and cook until slightly golden, about 4 to 6 minutes, then transfer to a plate.
  • Without separating the rolls, cut 1 package of Hawaiian sweet rolls in half horizontally with a serrated knife. Place the bottom half of the rolls cut-side up in a small rimmed baking sheet.
  • Place the american cheese slices on the bottom half of the rolls in an even layer.
  • Top with the onions in an even layer. Then top with the beef mixture.
  • Sprinkle shredded medium cheddar cheese over and top with sliced dill pickles.
  • Place the top half of the rolls cut-side down over the pickles.
  • Brush 1 tablespoon melted butter or olive oil over the top of the rolls, then top with sesame seeds.
  • Cover the baking sheet tightly with aluminum foil and bake for about 10 minutes. While the sliders are baking, begin making the burger sauce, and build the lettuce wraps as a healthier option.

For the Burger Sauce:

  • Combine the following ingredients in a small bowl: mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, and yellow mustard. Serve with the sliders as a dipping sauce.
  • Enjoy!
