Check Out The Coolest Home Decor Trends For This Spring

The seasons are changing! And with it comes the annual desire to  freshen up our living spaces. Turning a room from “same old, same old” to a show stopper, doesn’t take a whole HGTV team (although, hey, if you’re offering…). It also doesn’t have to break the bank.

Here at The Cool Mom Co., we’ve put together a list of our favorite home decor trends. Whether you are looking for a sustainable switch or a dramatic makeover, we’ve got you covered!

Sabai Design
In a world where Ikea reigns supreme, and trends change at the drop of a hat, outfitting your home with sustainable and well-made pieces can feel like fighting a losing battle. But Sabai Design is looking to change the way we view buying furniture.

With a focus on using local and recycled materials, Sabai creates custom furniture pieces at affordable prices. All furniture is made to order, which means there is no surplus being thrown away and discarded. Bonus for those of us with messy little ones running around: Sabai features a “Repair Don’t Replace” program, where they sell individual components of furniture, such as slipcovers, legs, and pillow inserts, to extend the life of your furniture.

Bolé Road Textiles
Sometimes, changing up a room is as simple as adding a single statement piece! If this sounds like what your space is craving, look no further than Bolé Road Textiles! Created by New York-based designer, Hana Getachew, Bolé Road, offers a variety of textile-based products, such as pillows, rugs, shower curtains, linens, and wall hangings. Born in Ethiopia, Getachew was inspired to incorporate the bold patterns of traditional Ethiopian textiles with her own modern design sensibilities.

What followed was a line of products that can appeal to a wide range of design sensibilities. Whether you’re the Queen of Neutral Color Schemes or you love bold color and patterns, you will find a piece that will add a little extra fab to your home!

Taper Candles
The reign of the scented candle is drawing to a close! For years now, scented candles have been a staple in every interior design store, and a favorite “treat yourself” gift for all of us.

But there is a new kid on the block. Or, perhaps, “new kid” isn’t the right term.

That’s right, y’all. The taper candle is back.

If taper candles conjure up images of stuffy wedding dinners, or school field trips to Colonial Williamsburg, stick with us! The modern taper comes in all sorts of colors and designs. We’re particular fans of these fun, textured ones from Anthropologie. Tapers bring elegance and a hint of nostalgia to any room. Paired with an elegant holder, they are a great way to create an eye-catching display for your table or mantlepiece. As a bonus? They produce less waste than scented candles, as they don’t come in jars, and are a much better option if your or your family members are sensitive to fragrance.

Wallpaper
A casual scroll through any design blog these days will tell you that tapers are not the only classic home decor trend that is back in style. Statement wallpaper is everywhere these days. And with good reason too.

This is not your grandparent’s wallpaper. With styles ranging from vintage kitsch to ultra-modern, wallpaper is a great way to make a huge impact on a space without making a huge dent in your budget.

Interested in trying the trend, but scared of the commitment? These days peel-and-stick wallpaper is easier to find than ever. If you’ve played with your kiddo’s sticker collection (and who hasn’t because stickers are fun!), then you can DIY yourself a makeover, that you can take down whenever you want.

Check out websites, like Spoonflower, where artists post original designs to match all aesthetics.

Colored Glass
For a while there, you couldn’t step foot in a thrift or antique store, without seeing a full set of 1970s colored glassware. Nowadays, though, you’d be hard-pressed to find so much as a cup.

Colored glassware has become hugely trendy this year. It’s a fun way to add a pop of color to your kitchen table. Personally, we can’t imagine anything more irresistible than a summer dinner party, with a bubbly drink, served in a brightly colored glass.

We’re big fans of Estelle Colored Glass. Founded by Stephanie Summerson Hall, and named after her antique-loving grandmother, these statement pieces are the perfect blend of vintage cool and modern elegance.
