Cool Mom: Kim Chappell

Occupation: Chief Brand Officer at Bobbie
Mom of: 3

Can you tell us a secret no one would guess about you?

I have never had a McDonald’s hamburger or anything from Taco Bell. I grew up in suburban Atlanta with a hippie mom as a full vegetarian on soy milk, carrot juice, supplements, scrambled tofu and all the things. This was very unheard of in the 80’s/90’s and made me a weirdo and no one ever wanted to spend the night at our house because we didn’t have “good snacks.” But I’m grateful for a strong foundation in health and I am still to this day A-OK being the weirdo.

One meal you could eat everyday?

A Caesar salad with dressing on the side, side of fries with a glass of Sancerre.

One vice you wont give up?

Being on my phone in bed— like I am right now at 6:30am answering these questions.

Late riser or early bird?

I’m a night owl— Iike the type who will do a workout at 11pm or finish a meaty doc while watching Bravo until 1am but I’m always up by 7am. I have a 3, 5 and 8 year old so “late rising” is not a thing unless carefully planned (and paid) for.

Morning routine you swear by?

I’m in my wellness beverage era. This means I start the day with a scoop of Perelel collagen and electrolytes in my water, move to fresh celery juice on an empty stomach, then hit a coffee about an hour later. I try to do this most days to start off with the right baseline of bevvies before I hit the zoom rooms.

One day I hope…

One day I hope I can take a nap in the sun by the pool again without worrying that if I close my eyes for even a minute someone will drown.

More the merrier or less is more?

Definitely more the merrier! If you know me you know I’m a maximalist. Instead of taking off one bracelet before leaving the house, I put another one or two on. Why go nude nails when you can go neon? I love a full plate, a full table of friends, and a full life!

Cool brands you love?

Perelel Health— they make great products, their founders are lovely humans, and their fight to fund women’s health is one I support.

Spread the Jelly— such rad moms in NYC creating a beautiful digital space to share the honest stories of motherhood.

Fishwife— they made an old piece of fish sitting in oil in a can beautiful and hip. That’s good branding right there. Their team seems to be having fun and showing up in new ways and reinventing their category which I always appreciate!

On the horizon: what’s coming soon?

We’re proud national sponsors of the NWSL this year and you’re going to see Bobbie show up in exciting ways with new merch alongside new mom of two Alex Morgan. Her transition and power pause right now is so aligned with what many of our customers experience (okay, no Olympic medals for most of us, but you know what I mean). We’re excited to be a part of her new mom of two journey and share more about her postpartum story soon!
