Occupation: Co-founder of Lodestar Whiskey
Mom of: 3
Can you tell us a secret no one would guess about you?
I was lucky and was able to sweet-talk my way into university without finishing high school.
One meal you could eat everyday?
I grew up in a town with a large Japanese population so at a young age I was introduced to Japanese food. As a young kid, my dad would take me to this great little Japanese restaurant and those meals stand out in my memory more than any other food experiences. So, I guess I could eat Japanese food everyday.
One vice you wont give up?
Coffee. As a single mom this is my addiction and I stand by it.
Late riser or early bird?
Early bird. With three kids under 10 I don’t really have a choice on this one.
Morning routine you swear by?
Set the coffee machine before I go to bed so I wake up to the smell of coffee and have something I really enjoy while making breakfast, packing lunches, etc. After school drop-off, I stretch and exercise for 15 mins and it’s the best start to the day. Any longer and I would feel like the day is getting away from me, any less and I wouldn’t be taking care of myself enough.
One day I hope…
to look back on a long life full of joy, growth, and authenticity
More the merrier or less is more?
More the merrier, hands down. While I enjoy one-on-one connection so much, I live for a big dinner table full of friends and family, sharing good food, drinks, laughs
Cool brands you love?
As a woman founder, I love to support brands founded by women –
- Hedley & Bennett have badass chef aprons, knives etc. for someone who cooks at home every day and anyone in the hospitality industry.
- Stasher carry reusable food storage bags and was started by a mom who was tired of wasting plastic to store food in the fridge
- Supergoop has the best sunscreen! It’s pricey but truly great both for the kids and myself.
On the horizon: what’s coming soon?
More Lodestar Whiskey for more people. I am excited to continue to invite a more diverse consumer into the whiskey space and celebrate life’s special moments, be they big or small, with community and joy!
