CBD affects your neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters assist in the communication of information between the brain and the rest of your body. They can send signals telling your brain that the body is in pain, injured, stressed, or tired. Despite being derived from the cannabis plant, CBD does not produce a high.

Like CBD, THC is a compound that is extracted from cannabis or hemp. While it also affects neurotransmitters, THC has a psychoactive effect. This means that you likely will experience a high while using products with THC. THC can also be consumed orally or externally.

People use CBD products for a variety of different reasons. CBD can be found in many over-the-counter products, including lotions, oils, patches, and gummies. These over-the-counter products typically exist to help ease anxieties and help with minor body aches and pains. 


What Are The Risks of CBD?

The risks of CBD are relatively minor. Most people experience few to no side effects. Those who do notice a difference, side effects can include fatigue, weight loss, and appetite changes. Overall, though, CBD is thought to be quite safe. However, if you are taking other medications, we suggest consulting with a doctor before adding CBD into your routine.


What is THC good for?

While CBD has been legalized almost everywhere, THC is more heavily regulated. It is definitely a more powerful compound. THC has been proven to be very useful when it comes to managing patient symptoms from other illness. THC can increase appetite and relieve pain, anxiety, and nausea. Of course, because THC produces a high it can also be used recreationally. Just be sure to stay up to date with your state’s individual laws!


What Are The Risks of THC?

THC is more powerful than CBD, but that also means it comes with more risks. Side effects can include things like memory loss, anxiety, and an increased heart rate. While these side effects are temporary, studies have shown that prolonged THC use can have negative effects on your psychiatric health, in the long run.  


Which One is Right For Me?

The short answer? It depends. In general, CBD is a more user-friendly product. It is much more versatile than THC, helping with a wide range of problems. Additionally, it is readily available in a variety of forms. That being said, if you are dealing with more serious health concerns, and would like to treat them with a more natural, plant-based solution, talk with your physician about whether THC might be a good option for you.
