Occupation: Emmy nominated Actress & Producer
Mom of: one daughter
Can you tell us a secret no one would guess about you?
My first job was as a river guide. My mom worked with a professional whitewater rafting company during the summers, so I grew up rafting. I got my first boat, with passengers on a 7 day trip, at 11 years old. I rigged my own boat, hauled my customer’s bags to and from my boat, set up their tents, and helped make all the meals. I can still remember how proud I felt.
One meal you could eat everyday?
Açaí Bowl with blueberries, granola and a little honey.
One vice you wont give up?
I have hot chocolate in my coffee most days. It’s just a little treat to look forward to in the morning.
Late riser or early bird?
Well… I’m naturally a late riser but I have a 2 year old who feels differently. So I’m an early riser these days. I’m trying to embrace it!
Morning routine you swear by?
I’ve been working on setting a more consistent morning routine for myself actually. Right now I’m really appreciating going through my gratitude list in my head before anything else. Then I make a few lists or goals for my day while having my coffee. Some lists are about getting specific things done and some are maybe to remind me to appreciate people or moments throughout the day. It allows me to set a tone for my day rather than letting something or someone else do it for me.
One day I hope…
That my daughter has every opportunity anyone else has. And that she has the imagination to match the opportunities.
More the merrier or less is more?
It really depends! I like an intimate conversation but I also love to host and make people feel welcome. It’s my love language. So I’d never turn anyone away.
Cool brands you love?
I’m obsessed with VitaCoco. You won’t catch me out without one. Coconut water has hydration with bonus electrolytes and VitaCoco comes in a box instead of a plastic bottle. Alexis Bittar, Osmia Organics, Honest, Henry Rose are some other favorites.
On the horizon: what’s coming soon?
My film Persona! I produced and starred in a thriller I’m really proud to share with audiences this spring. The cast and crew was 75% BIPOC and 50% female and the movie is just on another level. When you give talented people who have been overlooked for far too long the opportunity and the support to create, the product is different in the best way. I’m really looking forward to sharing both the movie and that story widely.
