Occupation: Certified functional nutritionist, wellness expert, best-selling author, and Founder of Be Well by Kelly
Mom of: 3 young boys
Can you tell us a secret no one would guess about you?
In highschool and in college, I drove a lifted F-150 with 35 inch mud tires.
One meal you could eat everyday?
It’s so hard to pick just one because I love food! I am a huge fan of the steak, broccolini and sweet papas at Ahba in south Laguna but if we’re speaking generally I would have to say either Mexican street steak tacos with guacamole or a big homemade chopped or Cobb salad with enough protein.
One vice you wont give up?
Coffee. I manage to give it up for one month a year, but it’s not something I could ever see myself giving up for good. It’s my favorite morning ritual and something I look forward to having while my boys are waking up or if I get time in the morning to journal or meditate.
Late riser or early bird?
I prefer to be an early bird, especially with little ones. Waking up early means I can get my workout in, spend time making a balanced breakfast, and start the day on a productive note before work begins.
Morning routine you swear by?
The morning routine I swear by is to start the day balanced. If I can get a workout early or some form of movement in, that’s a bonus, but I always make time for a balanced breakfast – whether that is a Fab 4 smoothie or some combination of protein, fat, fiber, and greens so I can head into my day feeling energized. I also like to focus on my ‘To-Be List’ rather than a ‘To-Do list’ in the morning, so I set intentions and ask myself what are the big things that I want to move forward with. Whether that be a book, new product, working with a new client, I give myself time to be creative and get my ideas out into the open so I can start bringing them to fruition.
One day I hope…
One day I hope… that my boys can say that I was always there for them, supported them, encouraged them to follow their dreams, believed in them, and they were my number one – including my husband Chris. (:
More the merrier or less is more?
I am definitely a less is more type of person. ‘Fewer nicer things’ is my motto. I’ve never been one to care for brand names or labels. I like to keep things minimal and have a few quality items that I truly love. We put more emphasis into the memories we can make as a family, whether that is a ski trip or traveling to a new city, those memories are priceless.
Cool brands you love?
That said a few a few of my favorite brands are timeless or personal and last years! Jenni Kayne for cozy sweaters, Juju+Stitch created my favorite embroidered tie dye beach shirt with my boys’ names on it, I love Agolde for jeans, The great for fun floral tops and Vans are my go-to farmer market shoes.
On the horizon: what’s coming soon?
I have new products I am launching for Be Well by Kelly including essential amino acid blend and creatine for anti-aging and healing. I am really excited for the addition of adding even more amino acids into my life.
