Beach Day Must Haves

It’s officially summer, which can only mean one thing: beach days! We don’t make it to the beach as often as I would like but when we do, we are prepared! Check out all of my Beach Day Must Haves below.

Plan: With kids along, there are no longer those spontaneous moments of impulsiveness. Set a day and prep for it. Pack your beach bag the day before so you can make it out to the beach earlier than later on the day.

Plenty of Snacks/Water: Pack tons of snacks in different containers or baggies to avoid the issue of sand ruining the whole lot. Try these which make packing up at the end of the day a ton easier too. Include a variety of favorite bites but avoid messy, sticky foods. I have learned they are not sand compatible. And don’t forget the water! Staying hydrated is crucial to a successful beach day.

Tent or Big Umbrella: This is a necessity for shade and overall comfort. Maybe the little ones will take a nap (or two).

Sunscreen: This spray makes it easy to use and works for the whole family. Follow directions on how often to reapply; more frequently when in and out of the water. Also, beach hats are great protection against the sun.

Baby Powder: This baby powder is my favorite and it’s great for de-sanding (is that a word?) after the day is over.

Table: This table is great for keeping your food elevated from the sand. Not a necessity but definitely a bonus item.

Portable Potty: Instead of running around looking for the closest bathroom with a kid who can’t hold it, bring one of these. Make sure to have plenty of baggies too.

Rolling Cart: Unless you don’t mind carrying all these things in several beach bags, plus kids with hot feet, all on you while making your way across the sand, get one of these. Just pack it up and start rolling. Life saver.

Sand Toys: My youngest is convinced the beach is one huge sandbox so we are always prepared with sand toys to keep her entertained. I have been so excited to try this! Seems like it would make beach entertainment so much easier!

However you decide to “beach”, remember to go with the flow and have fun! I can’t wait to hear what your favorite beach day must haves are in the comments below or send me a comment here.
